There was another thread here that suggested a different approach for just summing FTE count which uses multiple lookups but it’s not very feasible given the scale.Online Corporate Organizational Chart Template I am just using this one as example - my true org chart will have 1,000 employees and 10s of levels so I need a way to do this that is repeatable. For example, for the CEO Breann Bedoya, the total should be $2.14M which is the sum of all the people in the departments underneath here (you can check this by going to the Departments tab and summing the total salaries across the 4 departments). Airtable specializes in spreadsheets and databases and only supports org charts, Gantt charts, and. The issue that I seem to be running into is that I need a column summing each of the different “levels” of the org chart otherwise salaries are not counted correctly. Each of Bonnie’s 4 reports make $100k per year, so you can see that the rollup in column “Children – Total Salary” is $400k total. If helpful, I have already found a way to get the parent and children of each of the employees and I am able to roll-up the salaries for the direct reports. I need to be able to do this for many different levels – for example, I would also want to be able to know the salaries of all of Bonnie’s reports. Is this possible?įor example, I want for Tawana Muro in the org chart below I would want a column that has the salaries of everyone contained in the red box. Here the preview for the “points” is turned off. To see the actual roads, we will simply hook up a “Polyline” component to the points and the roads from OSM will display properly. We will ignore “K” completely and only use “P” The points are structured together based on objects so don’t flatten or graft them! The Gen OSM outputs Points “P” and a value called “K” which are attributes associated with objects. ![]() This first image shows what you will see in Rhino if you bring in all of the data that is classified under the “Key” = “highway” You will see it gives you a 2D point cloud. Step Three – Basic Processes for 2D Map – Example of “K=Highway” I made my own list of commonly used keys and values that are useful for site modeling, although this list is not exhaustive.įor our first map, we will use a few of these and I will demonstrate some basic processes for bringing in each one. The values that typically are associated with highway are listed here on the Open Street Map wiki. The “key” can be thought of as the “genus” of the object, while the “value” can be thought of as the “species” In general, there are only 11 generally used “keys” but there are hundreds of “values”Īs an example, we can look at the “key” designation “highway”. Every object in OSM is classified using these two designations. The last two are what are called the “Key” and “Value”. The first two are the O and X values that are generated from the “Loc” component. You can use the special “River” “Railroad” or “Highway” components, but for simplicity I will show it here only one way, using the “Generic OSM” component. The process for extracting it is always pretty much the same. All of the OSM data is now living in the “Loc” component, we just need to extract it now. Right click on the “File Path” parameter and set this as your *.osm file, wherever you happened to save it. Plug the data path into the main “Elk” component which is labeled “Loc” for Location. I actually use meters as a default for all of my work, so sometimes I forget to tell students this, but there is no reason you should be using millimeters for site design work.Įlk is actually pretty simple and for all data the same basic data flow should be used, with three core components.įirst you use the Grasshopper “File Path” parameter (be careful not to use the “Data Path” parameter, as this won’t work). Important: Before starting make sure your units in Rhino are set to meters otherwise you may run into problems down the road. You can try this, or any other site you would like as long as there is sufficient data. In future posts, I will give some pointers on editing the map itself, but for this example, I will start with an area that is already pretty well mapped, exporting some data from a small village in Switzerland where I worked on a project as an intern, a small village called Ecoteaux. We will be running similar processes to generate files in Rhino, but will also be able to eventually make 3D models using Rhino + Grasshopper + Elk. One particular application that is very useful for designers is this set of 241 CAD files for many of the world’s major cities. This data has been used for many different applications. It is useful to go around a bit before continuing to see what is out there. ![]() The end effect is some places are very well mapped, especially in Northern Europe (lots of hobbyists / nerds □ ) while other parts of the world not so much. The map is also editable by anyone, so if you are working on a project in a particular place, you can add additional data to the public map. All of the data is generated by volunteer mapping hobbyists, and can be used in most any application, non-commercial and even commercial, at no charge. It is a mapping program, much like google Maps, etc. This is handy for making site models of large scale landscapes, although the data is typically not sufficient for site scale design.īefore I get into the process, I want to briefly talk about what Open Street Map is. Basically what it does is it takes data from an open crowd-sourced mapping program, Open Street Map, and allows you to use this data in the Rhino environment. While it has some issues, which I will talk about when they come up, in general it is a very powerful tool. One very useful add-on for Grasshopper is a plugin called Elk which can be downloaded for free from Food4Rhino. ![]() ![]() Preparations for the Games bedeviled by political planning issues ![]() Ultimately, however, it was not, and the Games were awarded to the city two years later, on September 7, 2013. The idea of submitting a bid for the 2020 Games a mere six months after the meltdown of several nuclear reactors just 250 kilometers (155 miles) from the Japanese capital, when the question of a massive evacuation of Tokyo had been raised with the then–prime minister, Naoto Kan, seemed at the time almost disqualifying. Moreover, the submission of bids in September 2011 coincided with a political agenda that had become particularly sensitive following the triple disaster of March 11, 2011, where an earthquake of rare intensity, followed by a deadly tsunami, led to the nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi power station (Scoccimarro 2012 Asanuma-Brice 2017). At the beginning of 2021, a majority of the population was for this reason still in favor of canceling the event. On the other hand, the lack of public interest remained a constant throughout the Tokyo saga (Hiller and Wanner 2018). On the one hand, Shintarō Ishihara abruptly resigned from his position as governor in October 2012, a sudden and unilateral decision that initiated a crisis of succession that was damaging to the project’s advancement and subsequently to the governance of the Games. In order to win the 2020 Games, the Tokyo team had to overcome two weaknesses in the 2016 bid, namely the weight of the personal ambitions of the former governor of Tokyo, the populist Shintarō Ishihara, and the lack of support among the local population. The organization of the Tokyo 2020 Games encountered many obstacles, starting with the bidding phase, which followed the failure of its previous bid, for the 2016 Games, won by Rio de Janeiro (Languillon-Aussel 2017). But is the latter of these really the sole consequence of the world health situation, or can symptoms of more structural problems also be detected? An Olympic bid under pressure Tokyo is thus the only host city in Olympic history to have been subject to both a cancellation, in the case of the Summer Games of 1940 (Collins 2007 Ikeda 2020), and a postponement. This unprecedented decision in the history of the Olympics occurred in the context of the international health crisis caused by the Covid‑19 virus. "We hope that this ceremony may be a moment for each and every one of us to think about what the future holds. On March 24, 2020, the Japanese central government announced its decision to postpone by one year the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games that were initially to be held in the summer of 2020. It is this salient message which we believe will create a Closing Ceremony that will open the door to a brighter future. "Even if we cannot be together, we can share the same moment, and that is something that we will never forget. "The Games have and will provide us with food for thought about diversity and inclusion as we continue on to the Paralympic Games. "During these past 17 days, we have witnessed individuals from a variety of cultures and backgrounds reach new heights together and connect through sport.
